  1. I read the article on Transgender Brains and I thought it was interesting how male to female transgender brains had more similarity to a females brain structure to a males, and how female to male transgender brains had more similarity to the brain structure of an average male brain.

  2. The transgender brain article is about the difference between female and male brains and how people's brains reflect their experience. For example a trans woman's brain would look more like a woman's brain than a man's brain if they experience life as a woman. I took, from this article, is that if you raise your kids to express themselves how they want to be, their brains might change but for the better.

  3. In Response to "Transgender Brains": Logically, it is plausible to pinpoint stimulations in the brain to assumed behavior. If I were to react a certain way because I am engulfed in a certain behavior, it makes sense that I should have similar results to those also exhibiting similar behavior. In a way, I expected the results from this article on this basis. However, there is a more scientific discovery mentioned in this article about how female-male transgender people actually developed a portion of their brain like a male naturally would. This is an effect I did not forsee reading about, and it is intriguing to see that this is the case. Likewise, the finding that both experience boys and girls respond to certain noises like females normally would. Science has interesting discoveries in that way. All that's left to see is what the cause of these developments is most likely to be. Regardless, the article contains interesting research done by others.

  4. I read the "Transgender Brain" article and found it interesting that, even before treatment, the brain structures of trans people were more similar to the brains of their experienced gender vs. their natal gender.

  5. I read the article "Transgender Brains". I found it very interesting that the brains of those that are transitioning are similar to the gender they are transitioning to. I also found it interesting that in one of the studies where they measured the echos made by the inner ear in boys and girls, the boys with gender dysphoria responded like typical females would, but girls with gender dysphoria also responded the same way. I also liked how they ended the article by saying it will be a long time before a doctor can do a brain scan and definitively say that a child is transgender.

  6. I read an an APA article about genetics and how they are related to IQ. This article mentioned how race, gender, and class are misconceptions of IQs and how IQ is heavily based on genetics. If you have a high IQ, there is a high chance that your children will have high IQs too and be smarter than the average. What I found Interesting was that it is likely that your family environment can affect your IQ. The article also mentioned how income and discrimination are enough to cause differences in IQ.

  7. I read the article "Transgender Brain" and I found the study very interesting. What I found most interesting is how the brain structures from transgenders are more similar to brains of the experienced gender vs. natal gender. It's very interesting to know that transgender brains are far different from male and females, and how their study worked.

  8. I read the article "Aaron Hernandez and Brain Injury". I found the article to be very interesting to the fact that Hernandez's brain was almost as depleted as a 60 year old former football player. He was only 27 which was crazy. I would like to know more as to what caused his brain to be so affected and if football really is a risk to play, or how much football affects players in the long run of their lives.

    1. I also read that article and I find it crazy how Hernandez could take so much head trauma that his brain had gotten that bad

  9. I read the article "Transgender Brains" and thought it was very interesting. The male and female brains are slightly different in structure. The study wanted to know if those transgender people have the brain structure of the gender they experienced. It proved the brain structure looked more like the gender they experienced than their natal gender which i thought was interesting.

  10. I read the CTE article. It was interesting to see that Hernandez, a man who wasn't even 30 when he died, had the brain of a 65 y.o. NFL player. His brain was not compared to those with CTE, but also to those who had dementia and the similarities were striking.

  11. I read the "transgender brains" article and learned a lot about how someone can often feel like they are trapped in a body that they do not belong in. According to the article a transgender person's brain will look like the brain of the gender they believe they are.

  12. I read the article about Aaron Hernandez. This article talks about how the effects of traumatic brain injuries are still somewhat unknown. They know it can cause C.T.E and dementia, however they do not know if it causes that level of violence. One explanation that they give for his violence is his substance abuse rather than his brain injury.

  13. I read the article about Aaron Hernandez. I find it interesting that they found the same brain damage in Junior Seau and Dave Duerson as they found in Hernandez. Both were also football players in the NFL that killed themselves, yet the NFL fights lawsuits saying that brain injuries from football is not the reason that these men had mental illness. Researchers at BU confirmed that Hernandez had similar behavior to the 100 football players that they evaluated. That confirms that though Hernandez may have had mental illness before playing football, the brain injuries he got in football definitely had an effect on his mental health.

  14. I read the article on transgender brains. I was glad to read that there are scientists looking into the biological aspects of trans brains which I think will help trans children of the future, specifically in being respected in the medical field and receiving the proper assistance when they start to transition.

  17. read the Aaron Hernandez Article. Something I found extremely interesting and scary is just how damaged his brain was for his age and the length of his career. Most football players who suffered from CTE to the point where they became violent and harmed others or themselves were a lot older than Hernandez. This leads me to believe that it was substance abuse and other factors that led to his violent behavior rather than CTE.

  18. Payton: I read the article on Aaron Hernandez and I was astounded by the fact Aaron had gone through that much head trauma and no one thought to check it. Football players are and must be the most injured people out of every sport team.

  19. I read the article about transgender brains. I thought that it was interesting how brains of FtM transgender people are similar to male brains, and vice versa. The article states that we are a long way from being able to definitively tell if a child is transgender, but the fact that we can find comparisons in brain scans shows that we are on the right track to discovering this.

  20. I read the article about Aaron Hernandez. What I found interesting was that after viewing all the x-rays and going through all the data and facts, the NFL still decided to say that CTE was not the cause of his death. I find that very hard to understand; why would people still deny something that is clear as day?

  21. Ryan Quinlan: I read the article on Aaron Hernandez. I found it interesting that Aaron had the a brain similar to a 60 year old at the age of 27. I think I can relate. My grandfather played in the nfl. He was a defensive end for Vince Lombardi. He had two world championships before the first super bowl. He had alzheimers and the nfl connected it to playing football. I think that people will react differently to head injuries. I think that if someone has a bad temper it can enhance that temper and lead to acts that normally wouldn't have been done with a normal brain. Some scientist thought that his brain was causing bad mental health issues and the nfl didn't want to hear it. they didt want to look bad.
